Photopic abnormalities in congenital stationary nightblindness.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Fourteen patients with congenital nightblindness, representing all three hereditary types, were studied, and all were found to have some type of photopic abnormality. The photopic abnormalities consisted of abnormal visual acuity, slower-than-nonnal final cone thresholds, elevated cone thresholds, subnormal photopic responses, slower-than-normal photopic aand b-wave implicit times, and low flicker fusion frequencies. One or more of these abnormalities were noted in all patients. Only visual acuity could be related to the specific type of inheritance involved. No other photopic or scotopic abnoimality bore a constant relation to the hereditary pattern. Congenital nightblindness, regardless of the hereditary type, is characterized by both scotopic and photopic abnormalities.

متن کاملThe Photopic Eledroreiinogram in Congenital Stationary Night Blindness with Myopia
Previous studies have reported that subjects affected with congenital stationary night blindness and myopia demonstrated some photopic (cone) abnormalities in their electroretinogram (ERG). By comparing the photopic ERG elicited with a threshold and a suprathreshold stimulus it was found that, at threshold, no significant differences were noted both in the peak time and in the amplitude of ERGs...

Electroretinographic studies of myctalopic Appaloosa horses demonstrated photopic and scotopic abnormalities similar to those in humans with congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB) of the Schubert-Bornschein type. The phototopic abnormalities consisted of reduced b-wave amplitudes and slower than normal b-wave implict time. The dark-adapted ERG's consisted of a simple negative potential; t...

متن کاملSelective Magnocellular Damage in Melanoma-associated Retinopathy: Comparison with Congenital Stationary Nightblindness
Psychophysical methods for isolating and evaluating the function of specific neural pathways are used to characterize the visual losses in patients with melanoma-associated retinopathy (MAR). These are compared with those of congenital stationary nightblindness (CSNB), a condition which displays a similar grossly abnormal ERG and loss of rod function. In MAR patients achromatic contrast sensiti...
